1977

I learned this evening that I was born in a good year for music and I know many of you who are reading this were too…

Well! At the studio this week, the advanced level assignment is to dance to a song from the year you were born and boy was I surprised to find how many of my favorite songs were actually most popular in 1977, the year of my birth.

Take a look at this list, would you? Hot!
(in no particular order)

*Dancing Queen by ABBA
*Dreams by Fleetwood Mac
*The Best of My Love by The Emotions
*You Make Me Feel Like Dancing by Leo Sayer
*So Into You by Atlanta Rhythm Section
*Black Betty by Ram Jam
*I Feel Love by Donna Summer
*Got To Give It Up by Marvin Gaye

1977 was also the year that Bob Marley’s album Exodus arrived on the scene, and…no joke, Alison by Elvis Costello was also very popular. (And I love that song, too)

Mmmmkay?!

If you hadn’t noticed, I travel frequently for work. Mostly, I go to Chicago and Houston, with occasional visits to San Francisco and New York. I have come to realize that traveling for work is not my favorite thing…

I used to think that I would *love* to travel around the country for work, but after now doing it regularly for over a year now, I have come to understand why most people would rather stay at the home office. I do adore seeing and knowing all the other women who work for our company because they are all wonderful and amazing people, but it’s the being away from home and not really having time to explore that gets me down. But because I do my best to stay as positive as I can, so as not to get too depressed on the road, I try to observe life and learn new things in the usually mundane details of life.

Two of my dear friends had babies this week!

Amanda, my dearest friend from high school, had her baby boy, Rex Michael, over the weekend. They have decided he is, indeed, cute (I agree), but they are still trying to decide who he looks like…

And yesterday, Rachael, my friend from LA who now lives in Austin, had her baby girl, Delilah DiAnne. She is the cutest little peanuttle! How beautiful are they? I wish I could reach through the screen and kiss them both…

Yay for sweet little bundles of joy!

vacation that went too fast, part II

Days 2 through 7 in Mexico were so wonderful! They were filled with sun, rest, beach naps, bocce ball, fajitas, chi chis, beach football, apples to apples, sunscreen and aloe, yoga, margaritas, chips and salsa, funny faces, LOST, teenage behavior observation, beach volleyball and a bus ride to a surfing destination where there were no waves.

In Mexico it is always my goal not to do much of anything. These family vacations are not for exploring Mexico and learning more about their culture. No, instead these visits to Puerto Vallarta are simply a Gringo getaway.

how life plays with you

In keeping with my new practice, I branched out to a new yoga studio last night and fell in love with the space, the teacher and the re-introduction to basic Hatha yoga. This studio, unlike my other one, has many different styles of class offerings, so I have decided to add this studio to my rotation. I drive by this studio on my way to and from work, so the location is rather wonderful. I also really like the name: Liberation Yoga. It fits in with my ultimate goal in starting a yoga practice for so many reasons.

Because I am excited about my goal (as I tend to be early on in the process), I decided to go to another class there this morning to try another teacher while continuing with my love of Anusara. I was so proud that I actually woke up easily, packed a lunch (whoa!), got myself showered and dressed, gathered a change of clothes and was out the door with time to make it to the 7am class.

But life played a little joke on me. Read more
