24 hours in the city by the bay

On Sunday night I flew up to San Francisco and spent the night at my brother’s house. He cooked me my favorite of his dishes, called Hashish Parmetier (but I have no idea how to spell it). It’s a bunch of vegetables and spices cooked up and then stirred up with mashed potatoes, then you spread that delicious goodness in a casserole dish and cover it with thin slices of gruyere cheese. Finally, you put it in the broiler until the cheese melts and then…oh yum-o!
We ate dinner on the floor in the living room and we talked and talked. I am so glad for our openness with each other when we can actually find the time to hang out together one on one.
On Monday I woke up and took the bus (yay!) to the SF studio to do some work and then I spent a too-short lunch with Jenni. And I got to meet Kiki, the cutest girl puppy ever. The day was cool, crisp and clear and perfect. My heart is so full when I visit San Francisco…

day and night (well, dusk, really)

I really love the sky, which makes sense since I’m a Gemini and that’s an air sign…
Yesterday my boss said “I’ll make a business woman out of you yet!” And something inside of me panicked a wee bit. Is that bad?

I finally bought myself a new camera. I was surprised how much I missed it when I didn’t have one…I am still learning how it works. It seems to have such a bright flash!
Here is my first shot, while waiting for the show to begin…
(R and I went to UCB for “Harold Night” ~ which is Improv)

overnight vacation

I still have no camera. I tried to buy one yesterday, but of course, there was this really big holiday that prevented me from being a consumer. But I had another great weekend!
On Saturday, RJ and I went down to Manhattan Beach for an overnight ‘getaway’. We spent the afternoon wandering around on the beach before we sat outside at the Cantina and drank a whole pitcher of Margaritas. {insert imaginary picture of us toasting our drinks here}
After our merry margaritas we got dressed to go out and went to see R’s brother Casey play in his classic rock cover band. They were playing at a funky little dive bar and they sure rocked it out. It was really fun to see Casey in his element, having a really great time. {insert imaginary picture of Casey headbanging here}
The next morning we woke up and walked right outside our hotel to look at the beach and have some breakfast. After breakfast, we took off our shoes and walked down to the water for a few minutes. We both decided we could live in one of these beach communities someday when we’re rich and don’t have to commute up to the big city. {insert imaginary romantic picture of the two of us on the beach with the morning waves behind us}
weekend update in words

Well, since I am still too cheap to buy a new camera I don’t have a any pretty pictures to post of my weekend adventures. (I know, it’s silly, because I know I will use it a lot, but it’s a “big” purchase which means I will visit the store about 3 times before I actually put down the credit card. I’ve been two times now, so…)
But it was a solid weekend.
Saturday I rested. Like, a lot. Went over to R’s for breakfast and then fell asleep on the couch for awhile while he set up his new wireless printer. Then I went to see R’s hair girl for a much needed haircut. And I have never before had a better haircut! (see, right now would be the perfect time for a picture. wouldn’t it?). I love my hair. And I don’t say that very often. I mean I’ve been satisfied with my hair before, but right now I. Love. My. Hair. She didn’t even ask me what I wanted, she just ran her fingers through my hair, said it would be fun and then worked her wonder. Yeehaw - I have a style! Who knew that all I had to do was go see my boyfriend’s hair stylist? Go figure.
Then last night R and I watch another couple of episodes of Lost, the first season. No - neither of us ever got into it, but now we are and we’re watching it for free on abc.com! I love it, he likes it enough…(I think he likes it more than he’d admit)
Then today, I had an audition. (Yes). I auditioned for Miranda in The Tempest opposite Olympia Dukakis’ Prospera. Yes, Propera with an A. She is very nice and fun to audition with. She coached me while she was acting with me - it was awesome! Fingers crossed, but certainly no expectations…
And then, the best part of the day was having lunch with my friends Mila, from New York, and Amanda, just up from The OC. When we get together it’s like no time has passed. I heart them so much and wish Mila lived closer and Amanda and I saw each other more.
And that is my fabulous weekend in words instead of pictures. Ok, fine, I’ll make that 3rd trip to the store and get a camera, ok!?
