i’m all grown up now

Filed Under goings on | 6 Comments

They waited until the last second, but my offer was accepted and I am now in escrow!

(As if I wasn’t busy enough with rehearsals, performances & teaching for the next 30 days, now I add in all the inspections and phone calls and meetings, etc.)
I must be crazy.

But I’m pretty thrilled…and I’m moving over to Hollywood!
(ok, I’ll admit I’m also a little stunned)

here’s hoping…

Final results should be coming in today — whatever outcome you’ve been waiting for will arrive by early afternoon. So keep checking your mailbox, email inbox and voice mail as the day continues. Big news is coming — and it’s probably going to be the type of news you were hoping for. Time is on your side today, so go ahead and commit yourself a little more broadly. Keeping busy will also keep you distracted while you wait for that important message.

My new condo might be in the stars…

trying even harder to be a grown up

On Monday, as I said, I looked at 3 more condos…and I found another place that I fell in love with!

The best news is that it is priced much lower and more within my meager price range. It’s quite large, has beautiful, new hardwood floors throughout, an amazingly wonderful kitchen with new appliances, lots of closet space, a little outdoor area/patio and is very close to the pool area. What’s even better is that the seller is very motivated due to unexpected life changes (lucky buyer!)

So today, I wrote an offer! (Whoa. I’m excited and freaked out at the same time.)

Here are the only photos I have:

Living room looking toward hall and bedroom view of patio and slider
view of dining area bathroom sink

I don’t have any pictures of the bedroom or outside of the building to show you, but you can an idea of the 360 degree view of the living area and peek into the bathroom.

So now we have have to wait with baited breath and fingers crossed!

Pray!

i’m like…trying to be a grown up

I’ve been out on the town looking at condos. Yes, I am attempting the ‘what seems like impossible’. I want to become a (gulp) homeowner…

A couple of weeks ago I began looking at some places with a realtor and found a place that I simply adore. It was on the higher side fo the price limitations, but I felt like it was the place. It had been on the market for 68 days, which is a long time these days. But as we know things are changing slightly, so I my realtor and I thought that perhaps we could give a low offer and I could get the place for under the asking price.

Upon further research by my awesome realtor, we found out that the seller has received many offers, including one for the full asking price, but turned them down, without even a counter offer. (damnit!) This guy is completely deluded. The housing market isn’t going that way anymore and may even start to drop. Obviously he isn’t a motivated seller.

I’ve been trying to let the idea of this place go, but it’s perfect. It has all the things I’m looking for. It’s in West Hollywood, it has a sizable deck, room for improvement, a pool and common patio and trees to cover the view of the street.

So today I am going to look at some new places. We’ll see what happens, but I can’t get this property out of my head. I guess, the good thing is that now I have an idea of exactly what I’m looking for…

(sigh)
I’ll update this when get back.

smitten

Filed Under what's the meaning of the word | 4 Comments

I am fascinated by words. I always have been. I like to say them out loud and feel them swirl around in my mouth and dance over my tongue. (yep, a shakespeare addict tried and true)

In honor of words that I love to say (and also love the meaning of), I am starting a little series* called “what’s the meaning of the word?”

Today’s word is:

smit.ten adj.
1: (used in combination) affected by something overwhelming 2: marked by foolish or unreasoning fondness [syn: crazy, dotty, gaga, charmed by, sweet on, taken with]

Did you know that smitten comes from the verb ’smite’? So I looked up smite, too, and found it rather interesting.

smite v.
1. a. To inflict a heavy blow on, with or as if with the hand, a tool, or a weapon. b. To drive or strike (a weapon, for example) forcefully onto or into something else.
2. To attack, damage, or destroy by or as if by blows.
3. a. To afflict: (The population was smitten by the plague.) b. To afflict retributively; chasten or chastise.
4. To affect sharply with great feeling: (He was smitten by deep remorse.)
